(near-field recording) запись с использованием интерференции в ближнем поле, технология NFRперспективный метод записи, базирующийся на применении специальных иммерсионных линз (см. SIL). Иммерсионная линза фокусирует лазерный пучок на поверхности диска, позволяя формировать исключительно малого размера ячейки для кодирования одного бита информации. Технология NFR обеспечивает заметное повышение плотности записи - за счёт уменьшения размера пятна до 100 нм достигается ёмкость 100 Гбайт при использовании обычного "красного" лазера (длина волны 630 нм).
